This shock load is detrimental to the mating surfaces and even worst when a roller lifter is being used. Nettet13. des. 2015 · I put three sets of their A-2279 lifters in my 525EFI's. Had one collapsed lifter on #4 exhaust on the port engine after 50 hours. Not really sure I can blame the lifter though. I was running springs with way too much seat pressure so that could have contributed to the failure.

The hard face is an old trick that goes back at least to the flat head Ford days. So lifter and lobe wear is noting new.
