I decided to walk the lost Porthcawl Branch Line from Cefn Junction Signal Box to the site of the old Porthcawl Station. Well, I walk as much of the branch line’s route which is still accessible. Porthcawl Lighthouse was the last coal and gas-powered lighthouse in the UK. It switched to being powered by North Sea gas in 1974, before becoming powered by electricity in 1997.
