Although the relationships among the “lower” epidendroids are unresolved, Triphoreae, Tropideae and Neottieae form a monophyletic unit (Cameron et al., 1999). Psilochilus Barb. Rodr. is included in the tribe Triphoreae (e.g., Cameron et al., 1999; Dressler, 1993; Rothacker, 2006).
